A health lesson from painting an old house

Last weekend, I had a chance to go back to Michigan for a whirlwind 36 hours straight of painting the old house at 290 S Almont Ave. It was tough on many levels physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Although I felt great while painting and refinishing floors for 36 hours, the big lesson was what came afterward. My body began to talk to me and even scream at me during the five minute breaks that I took between jobs, yet it didn't talk to me while I was in action.

This is just like life, we often do not feel the stress during the stressful times, yet when our body and life has a chance to relax it then chooses to talk to us through symptoms. There are people who come into our chiropractic studio saying I must of slept wrong or I slept funny last night. Have you ever thought about these words? How can one sleep wrong? Sleep is sleep, we cannot do it right or wrong.

It is these times of pure relaxation that our body processes stress from the past days, weeks, and even years. The symptoms that we are experiencing are from the past. It is a proven fact that symptoms are the last to show up in a disease process and the first to leave. Know this fact, we cannot judge our state of health purely on the presence or lack of symptoms.

I encourage you to take care of yourself whether you have symptoms or not. Treat your health like a bank account. We need to deposit more than we withdraw.

Be well, live to your fullest, get adjusted.
