Why are we in such a hurry?

"I have to go. I am too busy. I don't have time." I hear these sentences all the time and in my judgement they are far from the truth. I get it, really I do, the human race is on and if we allow it to take over our life it will.

Time is what we make of it and what we choose of it. One of the inevitable truths in our daily experience is that we always have 24 hours, which is 1440 minutes or 86,400 seconds in every day. Too busy... we are always busy. No matter what we fill our busy day with, every second gets eaten up. Some days we choose to sleep in, others we choose to exercise or get adjusted, and some times we use our day by procrastinating. Yet, the one inevitable truth is that we use every second. And we always have time.

Schedules are starting to form for the fall and winter. What are you making of your time? Are you taking care of your life or are you letting life take care of you. In this season of transition, take time out to see what serves you in life and make the most out of your time. Slow the human race down to ensure the being part of life gets attention in your personal human being. Do your best to take life in and make it a great day!

Back to School

It's September and that means, for many people, a change in schedule and routine. As people get back into the swing of things, I have noticed this transition is a welcomed one as the family unit gets back on a schedule. For others, it can be a stressful time because life's pendulum swings in another direction.

When the body is not functioning at it's best, added stress and change can be difficult to integrate. We experience life through our nerve system and if there are disconnections or blocks to nerve flow due to spinal subluxations that decrease the function and movement of the spine, then the body struggles to maintain and achieve homeostasis. Signs and symptoms of this occurring in children and adults can range from emotional to physical expressions. Some such manifestations might be irritability, trouble sleeping, depression, lack of concentration, mental fogginess to pain in the body, digestive challenges or hormonal imbalances. Many people may not express any signs or symptoms and yet their body may be working hard.

We teach in our studio that it's essential to care for ourselves when we are feeling good and when we are feeling bad. This is wellness. What kind of deposits are you making into yours and your family's health on a daily basis?

The 5 components to a healthy lifestyle are:
  1. A positive mental attitude. Practice with affirmations.
  2. A healthy diet. Want to feel more alive, eat more live foods!
  3. Rest and relaxation. Meditate 15 minutes every day.
  4. Exercise. You gotta move that body 20-30 minutes every day!
  5. A healthy nerve system. Get your spine checked by a chiropractor!
My rule of them in life is...more goods are better than less bads!

A Father's-to-be's perspective

As I reflect on my life and what is coming through my journey, it is easy for me to think about being a father. This is a point in my life that I cherish for many reasons. The further connection with Rachel, the joy from a baby, and the natural next step for our family are just a few.

Last weekend, Rachel and I made time to celebrate the pregnancy. We took our entire Saturday and filled it with intention. My wish is to pass this beautiful day on so maybe you too could enjoy some of the magic that happened.

The three major events consisted of meditating three times during the day with holding the intention of our family and more specifically the baby. We then went to "Beads and Beyond" and made pregnancy blessing necklaces. This is a symbol of the baby that both Rachel and I can have with us at all times. Not wearing a necklace on a consistent basis, I am very conscious of feeling this on my body and it gives me the gift of thinking about the baby frequently throughout my day. The final piece that we did was construct vision boards for our family. We made these to create several images of what we want to create for our life and for our family.

At the end of the day, I found myself totally connected to the baby, Rachel, and full of gratitude for what is in my life.
